We birded the Walvis Bay Saltworks and Walvis Bay area on August 10, 2012. Brad photographed this Blacksmith Lapwing (Vanellus armatus) in a grassy area opposite the Lagoon in Walvis Bay. We were birding our way to a picnic area where we had lunch. Wings are gray, and the belly, crown, forehead, and nape are white. The rest of the bird is black. Temperatures were in the mid-60's on this overcast afternoon.
