We birded the dry river bed of the Swakop River during the afternoon of August 11, 2012. Brad photographed a Bokmakierie (Telophorus zeylonus) as it perched near our vehicle during our lunch break. Upperparts are gray (head and nape) and green (wings). Underparts, supercilium, and throat are yellow. This adult shows a black mask that extends in front of the eye from its bill laterally down the sides of the neck to form gorget on the chest area. Temperatures were in the mid-70's on this partly cloudy afternoon.
