I took this photo of Brad (VENT guide, Geoff, is on the left) relaxing during our lunch break on August 11, 2012. Bruno, our local guide, prepared a tasty picnic lunch for us (the apple crumble was a winner!). We spent the afternoon driving down the dry Swakop River bed looking for birds. The Swakop River Canyon is formed by mountainous ridges on either side of a sandy riverbed with interspersed riparian vegetation. Temperatures were in the low 70's on this partly cloudy afternoon.
