Late in the afternoon on August 9, 2012, we were driving to our hotel in Swakopmund after birding in the Walvis Bay/Kuiseb Delta area. We made one last birding stop at a wetlands area where we photographed this Cape Teal (Anas capensis). This side view shows the bird's pink upturned bill, reddish iris, and mottled gray feathers. Temperatures were in the upper 70's on this clear afternoon.
