We birded the Walvis Bay Salt Works area during the afternoon of August 10, 2012. Brad photographed this Cape Teal (Anas capensis) as it swam in a nearby pan. The Cape Teal is a small, pale, dabbling duck with an upturned pink bill. In flight, it looks very pale (almost white). The speculum is white with a dark green central patch. The iris is red. Temperatures were in the mid-60's on this overcast afternoon.
