Brad took this photograph on August 9, 2012, while we were birding the Kuiseb Delta region near Walvis Bay. The Dune Lark (Certhilauda erythrochlamys) is a Namibian endemic. Its range lies entirely within the Namib sand sea in Namibia, ranging from the Kuiseb River in the north to the Koichab area near Luderitz in the south. This species avoids the totally un-vegetated dunes near the coast in the central Namib dune belt. Most of its range is in the Namib-Naukluft Park. The bird's coloration blends in with its environment with its white underparts and dune-red upperparts. This bird put on quite an aerial display for us...skylarking.
