After a full day of birding the Walvis Bay and Walvis Bay SaltWorks areas on August 10, 2012, we returned to the Hansa Hotel in Swakopmund. Brad and I decided to bird the hotel's courtyard before looking around the city. We photographed this female Dusky Sunbird (Cinnyris fuscus) as she perched in a shrub. Sunbirds have decurved bills specialized for probing flowers. The Dusky female has white underparts (this individual appeared to be grayish-white underneath) and brown upperparts. Temperatures were in the mid-60's with overcast skies.
