Late in the afternoon on August 9, 2012, we were driving to our hotel in Swakopmund after birding in the Walvis Bay/Kuiseb Delta area. We made one last birding stop at a wetlands area where Brad photographed this Kittlitz's Plover (Charadrius pecuarius). The white band encircling the back of the neck, black mask and forecrown are visible in the photo. Temperatures were in the upper 70's on this clear afternoon.
