After landing and clearing customs in Walvis Bay during the afternoon of August 9, 2012, our group of five (plus VENT guide and Bruno, our local guide/driver) headed out in Bruno's land rover to bird the Kuiseb Delta region to look for the endemic Dune Lark before driving to our base in Swakopmund, the Hansa Hotel. The Namib Section of the Namib-Naukluft Park (Namibia's largest nature reserve) stretches between the Swakop River and the Kuiseb River. The Namib desert is the world's oldest and is estimated to be approximately 80 million years old. I photographed this church as we were driving out of the Kuiseb Delta region and heading for the main road to Swakopmund.
