Brad took this photograph on August 9, 2012, while we were driving in the Namib Desert near the Walvis Bay area. Sand dunes in this area taper off in height from the 1,000 foot high dunes further inland to those near the coast, lagoons, wetlands and mudflats where we birded. Hundreds of thousands of birds are attracted to this area. Namib means open space, and the Namib Desert gave its name to form the country's name...Namibia...land of open spaces.
