After breakfast on August 11, 2012, we birded coastal areas, bays, and lagoons along with the gravel plains in and around Swakopmund. Brad photographed a Red-capped Lark (Calandrella cinerea) as it flew by our vehicle (showing grayish-white on the underwing). The crown and pectoral patches are rufous (redder in males). Upperparts are brown, and underparts are a grayish-white (darkness of belly is variable). Temperatures were in the mid-70's on this overcast morning.
