This photograph shows a Rufous-eared Warbler (Malcorus pectoralis) perched in a nearby shrub. We were birding near Swakopmund in the Namib-Naukluft National Park of Namibia which encompasses part of the Namib Desert (considered the world's oldest desert) and the Naukluft mountain range. The endemic Rufous-eared Warbler has a black breast-band (variable) and rufous ear-patches (pale in this female). The tail is long and thin. This individual had whitish underparts and a noticeable white supercilium.Temperatures were in the upper 70's on this partly cloudy afternoon.
