After breakfast on August 11, 2012, we started birding in the Mile 7 SaltWorks area near the outskirts of Swakopmund. Artificial platforms serve as seabird roosting areas from which guano is collected at regular intervals, processed, and sold as fertilizer. Seabird Guano, located on the coast, is one of the companies involved. Temperatures were in the mid-70's on this overcast morning with intermittent drizzle.
