Late in the afternoon on August 9, 2012, we were driving to our hotel in Swakopmund after birding in the Walvis Bay/Kuiseb Delta area. We made one last birding stop at a wetlands area where Brad photographed this Three-banded Plover (Charadrius tricollaris). Its red bill is tipped in black. The eye-ring is red, legs are pinkish, and underparts are white. Two black bands circle the neck on either side of a white band. The face, throat, and neck are a grayish color. Temperatures were in the upper 70's on this clear afternoon.
