We birded the Walvis Bay Saltworks and Walvis Bay area on August 10, 2012. Brad photographed this White-breasted Cormorant (Phalacrocorax lucidus) flying with a sinker hanging from its neck. This large cormorant has a white throat and breast. This adult has green eyes, a pale gray bill, and yellow facial skin (gular area). Silvery gray plumes are visible on this bird's mantle. Temperatures were in the low 70's on this overcast morning with intermittent drizzle.
