We birded the Walvis Bay Saltworks and Walvis Bay area during the morning of August 10, 2012. Brad photographed this White-breasted Cormorant (Phalacrocorax lucidus) standing on the shore with a group of Cape Cormorants. The White-breasted Cormorant is a large cormorant with a white throat and breast. This adult has green eyes, a pale gray bill, and yellow facial skin (gular area). A patch of white feathers can be seen next to the wing on the lower belly. Temperatures were in the low 70's on this overcast morning with intermittent drizzle.
