We birded the Walvis Bay Saltworks and Walvis Bay area on August 10, 2012. Brad photographed this White-fronted Plover (Charadrius marginatus) as it walked along the beach. Note the short yellowish-gray colored legs, brownish upperparts, white hind-neck collar, distinctive white forehead extending back in a conspicuous wedge between the eye and crown, and a black line extending from the lores through the eye with a black frontal bar to the crown. Underparts are white with a buff-colored wash to the breast. Temperatures were in the low 70's on this overcast morning with intermittent drizzle.
