On August 25, 2012, we left the Royal Livingstone Hotel in a safari vehicle and drove to a different entrance to Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park for a late afternoon birding and big game expedition. Brad photographed a Bushbuck, Tragelaphus spekei, that was eyeballing us as we drove close to it. This antelope is widespread in Sub-Saharan Africa and is found in a variety of habitats ranging from rain forests to forest-savanna mosaics. Temperatures on this sunny day were in the low 90's. The Bushbuck has a light brown coat, with up to seven white stripes and white splotches on the sides. The white patches are usually geometrically shaped and are found on the ears, chin, tail, legs, and neck. The muzzle is also white. Horns are found only on males, and they can reach over half a meter long with only one twist.
