We got excellent looks at several Hadeda Ibises (Bostrychia hagedash) that were along the shores of the Zambezi River above Victoria Falls the morning of August 25, 2012. We were out on an early morning boat trip to bird and look for big game in the Mosi-oa-Tunya (smoke that thunders) National Park's shoreline areas. Temperatures on this sunny day were in the upper 60's. The long bill is decurved and has a red culmen. Iridescent pink shoulder patches (appearing here with more greens and purple coloration), large white iris, and a white cheek-stripe are also visible in the photo. Its haa-haa-haa-de-dah call is loud and distinctive.
