After returning from our boat trip to bird along the shorline areas of Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park on the Zambezi River above Victoria Falls, Joanne and I joined our VENT guide, Geoff, for some additional birding on the grounds of The Royal Livingstone Hotel. Brad photographed a group of Hadeda Ibis (Bostrychia hagedash) that was perched in the upper branches of a large tree on the banks of the Zambezi River. The long black bill is decurved and has a red culmen. Iridescent greenish-blue shoulder patches, large white iris, and a white cheek-stripe are also visible here. Temperatures on this sunny day (August 25, 2012) were in the low 80's.
