On August 25, 2012, we left the Royal Livingstone Hotel in a safari vehicle and drove to a different entrance to Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park for a late afternoon birding and big game expedition. Brad photographed a White-crested Helmet-Shrike, Prionops plumatus, that was perched in a tree near the roadway. Temperatures on this sunny day were in the low 90's. The prominent yellow iris and eye-wattle plus the bird's bright yellowish legs stand out against its white underparts and black and white wings. The head is a pale gray.
