This Wire-tailed Swallow (Hirundo smithii) decided to hitch a ride on our boat the morning of August 25, 2012. We were on an early morning boat trip along the Zambezi River above Victoria Falls to bird and look for big game in the Mosi-ao-Tunya National Park's shoreline areas. Temperatures on this sunny day were in the upper 60's. The chestnut cap, vibrant blue upperparts, and white underparts, but not the wire-like tail shafts, are visible here.
