This picture was taken from the back deck of the Clipper Adventurer on our first day at sea, December 20, 2006. We were south bound in the Drake Sea. The weather was sunny with temperatures in the low 50's. This was a great opportunity to try and get photographs of the Black-browed Albatross showing dorsal, ventral and side views. When viewing birds in the wake of the ship, the white head and rump with black extending in between out to the wing tips were the field marks used to identify this species.
