This photograph was taken from the back of the Clipper Adventurer on the Promenade Deck on our second full day at sea, December 21, 2006. We were south bound in the Drake Sea and heading for the Antarctic Peninsula. The weather was partly cloudy with temperatures in the low 30's. The Southern (Antarctic) Giant-Petrel is identified from the Northern (Hall's) by the pale green tip on its yellowish bill.
