This photograph of an Antarctic Tern was taken early Christmas morning on Half Moon Island which lies in the entrance to Moon Bay, between Greenwich and Livingston Islands. This island was known to settlers as early as 1821. There is a large colony of Chinstrap Penguins on the island. Temperatures were in the low 30's on this cloudy morning. The Argentine Station was located here.
