This photograph is a close up of an Antarctic Shag that we saw on Paulet Island. Our tenth Zodiac trip took us to Paulet Island on the morning of December 26, 2006. Paulet Island lies five miles off Cape Purvis, the southern extremity of Dundee Island It has steep rock and scree slopes above which the conical summit rises to an elevation of 1,158 feet. It is composed of volcanic rock and has the typical appearance of a crater island. It was a partly cloudy morning with temperatures in the low 40's.
