This is a photograph of an Antarctic Fur Seal as he rears his ugly head with teeth bared above the water. This species has rebounded from near extinction and occupies evey tussock available. We made an afternoon landing (Zodiac trip #13) at Grytviken, South Georgia, on December 30, 2006. We took this photograph from our Zodiac as we were landing. The temperature was in the low 40's with partly cloudy skies and rain showers.
