This is a photograph of an Antarctic Fur Seal just before he made a run at Joanne. From that point on, we were leery of the devils. One bite from them could result in a severe infection. There are approximately three million fur seals on South Georgia (from what we say they occupy every nook and crany.) We made an afternoon landing (Zodiac trip #13) at Grytviken, South Georgia, on December 30, 2006. The temperature was in the low 40's with partly cloudy skies and rain showers.
