We were visiting Lucaya National Park during the morning of March 23, 2010, when we took this photograph of a female Red-winged Blackbird. It was a partly cloudy, windy day with temperatures in the upper 70's. Lucaya National Park, a 40 acre park established in 1982, is approximately 25 miles east of Freeport on the island of Grand Bahama. The caves in this area comprise one of the longest underwater cave systems in the world. Here we were able to visit six distinct ecosystems, blackland coppice, rocky coppice, whiteland coppice, mangrove swamp, pine forest, and a magnificent shoreline/beach.
