On our last morning in Baja California, Mexico, we drove to the Punta Banda Peninsula. La Bufadora, a marine geyser or blowhole, is located nearby. We were fortunate to see American and Black Oystercatchers walking together on the rocks. They were raising and lowering their bills and whistling. It seemed that they were engaging in some type of pre-mating ritual. We got excellent looks at the birds and were able to compare both species. It was a partly cloudy day with temperatures in the low to mid-70's.
