We took this photograph of a male Black-tailed Tityra early in the morning on October 4, 2011, at Reserva Volta Vehla. The crown and tail of this Tityra are black as are the sides of the head. The ocular area is red, and the red bill has a black tip. We birded the main clearing area near the dining hall until the weather cleared and then headed for the main trail. Temperatures were in the low 70's on this cloudy, overcast morning.
