After leaving Aparados da Serra National Park during the late afternoon on October 9, 2011, we birded a stretch of forest about 8-9 kilometers north of Cambará do Sul (a municipality in the state Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil). Brad photographed these Buff-necked Ibis (Theristicus caudatus) as they flew over the wetland area we were birding. An insect hatch attracted White-collared Swifts, Biscutate Swifts, and Sooty Swifts. Perhaps, this trio with their long decurved bills, black faces and buffy heads, necks, and chests was attracted to all the activity in the area. Temperatures were in 80's on this partly cloudy, humid day.
