After leaving Bariqui Park in Curitiba on the afternoon of October 6, 2011, we had a late afternoon lunch. Post-lunch birding consisted of a trip to the Zoo-botanical Park in Curitiba to look for specialities (wild, not domesticated). We saw this flock of Chestnut-capped Blackbirds, Chrysomus ruficapillus, in a marshy field as we were leaving the zoo area. Males are a glossy black and have a chestnut-colored cap and throat. Females have an ochre-buff throat but are otherwise pretty nondescript. Temperatures were in the 80's on this sunny afternoon.
