On October 9, 2011, we drove the road to Tainhas, RS020, to do some morning birding. Our ultimate goal for this day was Itaimbezinho Canyon in Aparados da Serra National Park near Cambará do Sul (a municipality in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil). Brad photographed this Chimango Caracara (Milvago chimango) at a stop near Cambará. This rather featureless raptor can be identified when flying by a white panel in its wings and its pale rump. Temperatures were in the 80's on this partly cloudy, humid day.
