During the morning of October 10, 2011, we birded the escarpment at Colinhas do São Francisco near our hotel, the Hotel Veraneio Hampel, in São Francisco de Paula. This is a photo of a Fawn-breasted Tanager (Pipraeidea melanonota). The gray-colored bill, black mask, blue crown and upperparts along with all-buff underparts make this tanager a treat to see. Temperatures were in the 60's on this partly cloudy morning with intermittent rain and fog.
