Brad took this photograph of a male Glittering-bellied Emerald (Chlorostilbon aureoventris) while we were birding the escarpment at Colinhas do São Francisco during the morning of October 8, 2011. Both male and female have a black tipped, red bill. The female, however, has a longer area of black on the bill. Males have a forked all-blue tail. Temperatures were in the upper 60's on this humid, overcast morning.
