On October 3, 2011, our group had a full day of birding at Reserva Volta Velha. After lunch in the dining hall, we enjoyed a siesta until 1500. Brad and I decided to make the most of our time there and birded the grounds. I was fascinated with the Green-headed Tanager. The bird is brightly colored in greens and blues. We took this photo to show the bird's colorful upperparts. Temperatures were in the upper 80's to low 90's on this partly cloudy day.
