During the morning of October 10, 2011, we birded the escarpment at Colinhas do São Francisco near our hotel, the Hotel Veraneio Hampel, in São Francisco de Paula. This male Green-throated Euphonia (Euphonia chalybea) has a dark chin, a yellow throat, yellow underparts, dark blue upperparts, and a small yellow forehead patch. Temperatures were in the 70's on this partly cloudy morning with intermittent rain and fog.
