During the morning of October 10, 2011, we birded the escarpment at Colinhas do São Francisco near our hotel, the Hotel Veraneio Hampel, in São Francisco de Paula. The Green-winged Saltator (Saltator similis) shown in this photograph is buried several layers deep in branches. I kept this photograph as a reminder of how difficult it can be to get that "perfect bird" shot when you are constantly on the move and only have a short amount of time between one species and the next. Temperatures were in the 60's on this partly cloudy morning with intermittent rain and fog.
