On October 9, 2011, we drove the road to Tainhas, RS020, to do some morning birding. Our ultimate goal for this day was Itaimbezinho Canyon in Aparados da Serra National Park near Cambará do Sul (a municipality in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil). We photographed this Hellmayr's Pipit (Anthus hellmayri) as it perched atop a gorse shrub at a stop near Cambará. Hellmayr's Pipit has a very finely streaked breast, a buff-colored belly, and little streaking on its flanks. The legs and feet are pinkish. Temperatures were in the 70's on this partly cloudy morning.
