After a busy morning of birding at Reserva Volta Velha on October 4, 2011, we drove to Curitiba. Along the way, we stopped at the mouth of the Mirim-Guacú River. This is a close-up photograph of a Kelp Gull (1st winter) in flight. Temperatures were in the low 80's on this partly cloudy afternoon.
