We took this photograph of a Maroon-bellied Parakeet during the morning on October 4, 2011, at Reserva Volta Vehla. Maroon-bellied Parakeets range from 10-11 inches in length and have green upperparts, a maroon patch on the belly, a "scaly looking" yellowish-green-barred breast and sides of neck, a whitish ear-patch often tinged brown, and a maroon undertail. The forecrown is greenish with a maroon-colored frontlet. We birded the main clearing area near the dining hall until the weather cleared. Temperatures were in the 70's on this cloudy, overcast morning.
