This is a photograph of a male Mottled Piculet (Picumnus nebulosus) that Brad took while we were birding the escarpment at Colinhas do São Francisco on the morning of October 8, 2011. This piculet has a white speckled black head, a red forecrown, a buff-brown collar, and streaking on it belly and flanks. Temperatures were in the 70's on this humid, partly cloudy morning.
