The Red-tailed Amazon Parrot (Amazona brasiliensis)is an endangered Brazilian endemic found on coastal regions in the southeastern Brazilian states of São Paulo and Paraná. This photograph shows the parrot's red forecrown and magnificently colored undertail feathers. The Red-tailed Parrot has bluish ear coverts, a purple throat, and lacks a wing speculum. Total population count for this species is estimated to be between 5,000-6,000. Temperatures were in the low 70's.
