The Rufous-capped Spinetail, Synallaxis ruficapilla, has a rufous-colored crown, wings, and tail. Its thin, white eyebrow is visible below its rufous cap. During the morning of October 5, 2011, we birded the highlands (elevation: 3,000 feet) of the Serra da Graciosa, a southern extension of the Serra do Mar, a long system of mountain ranges and escarpments in Southeastern Brazil that parallels the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. Our base was in Curitiba, the capital of the Brazilian state of Paraná. Temperatures were in the upper 60's on this cloudy, overcast morning.
