On October 9, 2011, we drove the road to Tainhas, RS020, to do some morning birding. Our ultimate goal for this day was Itaimbezinho Canyon in Aparados da Serra National Park near Cambará do Sul (a municipality in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil). This Savanna Hawk (Buteogallus meridionalis) flew over us as we were looking for Hellmayr's Pipit at a stop near Cambará. Temperatures were in the 70's on this partly cloudy morning.
