After leaving Bariqui Park in Curitiba on the afternoon of October 6, 2011, we had a late afternoon lunch. Post-lunch birding consisted of a trip to the Zoo-botanical Park in Curitiba. This is a photo of a Silver Teal, Anas versicolor. It is a species of dabbling duck that has a black cap that extends below the eyes. The bill is bluish with part of the upper mandible a bright yellow. The green speculum is bordered in white and is visible when the teal is in flight. Temperatures were in the 80's on this sunny afternoon.
