Brad and I were heading back to our room when we saw this Slaty-breasted Wood-Rail (Aramides saracura) in a marshy area near the lower garden of our hotel, the Hotel Veraneio Hampel, in São Francisco de Paula, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. This Wood-Rail has a a gray-belly, white throat, red legs, and a red iris. Temperatures on this October 10, 2011, afternoon were in the 80's with partly cloudy skies.
