Brad took this photograph of a Vinaceous Parrot (Amazona vinacea) while we were birding the escarpment at Colinhas do São Francisco near the Hotel Veraneio Hampel, in São Francisco de Paula, Rio Grande do Sul, on the morning of October 8, 2011. The Vinaceous Parrot's lores, frontal band, eyes, and speculum are red. It has a horn colored tip to its dull pinkish-red bill. This photo shows this parrot's lilac or vinaceous-colored breast. Temperatures were in the upper 60's on this humid, overcast morning.
