We were birding the grounds of our hotel, the Hotel Veraneio Hampel, located in São Francisco de Paula, during the early afternoon of October 10, 2011, when we saw this White-browed (or White-rimmed) Warbler (Basileuterus leucoblepharus). Controversy surrounds the name of this bird. The current thinking is that the name White-rimmed Warbler best describes this species because the bird shows a short white supraloral stripe. The bird shown in this picture is blackish-gray with a whitish belly and olive colored wings and tail. Temperatures on this partly cloudy day with intermittent rain were in the upper 70's to low 80's.
